Hepatitis B
Hepatitis B is a serious disease of the liver. It is brought on when the Hepatitis B virus (HBV) attacks the liver and can result in Liver cancer, Liver failure, and in some cases, even death. The Vaccine is available for all age groups and it averts Hepatitis B.
RECOMBIVAX HB Hepatitis B Vaccine is non infectious and is derived from genetic recombination. It is made with the help of yeast. As a result of taking up this vaccine, immunity is developed against the Heb B virus.
RECOMBIVAX HB, the Hepatitis B Vaccine is administered about 20 mcg, thrice. Once at birth, then at 1 month old and finally between 6 and 18 months of age.
Who is given the Hepatitis B vaccine?
The Hep B vaccine is recommended to anyone who is living in or travelling to Hepatitis A, B or C risk countries. It can be administered to infants and adults alike and is highly recommended.
How it works
The hepatitis B vaccine is prepared via DNA technology and helps in stimulating the immune system. What happens in tern is that antibodies are produced in the body to combat the Hepatitis B virus if it is contracted.
Common side effects
Side effects experienced after taking the HBV injection are nil, there may be mild side effects such as: 1.Mild Fever. 2.A sore arm.
