Your Journey To Postpartum Recovery
When you found out you were pregnant you knew your body was in for some changes- gaining weight during pregnancy, bigger breasts, maybe swollen ankles if you stayed on your feet too long. 1. Adequate amount of rest
The first few days at home after having your baby is the time for rest and recovery, both physically and emotionally. Focus your energy on yourself and on getting to know your new baby. You may find that all you can do is eat, sleep, and care for your baby. Learn to pace yourself from the first day that you arrive back home. Try to lie down or nap while the baby naps. Don't try to do too much around the house and ask for help whenever you feel exhausted.
All new mothers need to maintain a healthy diet to promote healing and recovery. The weight gained in pregnancy helps build stores for your recovery and for breastfeeding. After delivery, all mothers need to eat well so that they can be healthy and active and able to care for their baby.
