Babies are small little creatures who often don’t know much about how the world works. And as such, they have difficulty adjusting to the timeline that has been set. They sleep all day and then they stay awake all night thereby troubling the parents. But then, they are so sensitive and young that all they do the entire day and night is sleep. Newborns sleep a hell lot. And it’s not just because they like sleeping, it’s because they are adjusting to the outside world yet and their complete body functions haven’t begun yet. But still, mothers obviously need help to keep their babies asleep during the night at least and we understand this. Thus, we would like to give you some tips to help your baby sleep better at night.
1. Using white noise
It has been seen that some amount of constant noise actually helps the baby sleep easier and properly. The reason for this is the fact that when the baby is inside the mother’s womb, s/he constantly hears the sounds of blood gushing, heartbeat and the sounds of other processes happening. Thus, by hearing some white noise it makes them feel that they are in the comfort of the mother’s womb.
2. Keeping the room dark
When the baby is in the womb, there is nothing but darkness that they can see. Also, even though they have a separate sleep cycle, they somewhere know the difference between day and night. If there is light in the room then they will think it is still day and they will not sleep. So, keep the room dark and you will see that they fall asleep peacefully and with ease.
3. Try not to constantly check-in on your baby
A lot of the times parents tend to wake their baby up by mistake when they go to check on them. Whenever you go to see if your little one is alright you are likely to make some sound or even the light from outside will come into their room and they will wake up. So, in order to avoid this, try using a baby monitor and try not going into their room too frequently.
4. Wrap them in a blanket
The most comfortable position for a baby to sleep in is their mother’s arms. But, it is not possible for you to keep holding them continuously while they sleep. So, the alternative to it is that you wrap your baby in a blanket or in other words swaddle them and that way they will feel that you are always there.
