Vaccinations Your Children Need Before They Turn 2!

Babies take time to develop a strong immune system. And by the time their immune system fully grows up, you need to be more protective about their health and hygiene. A part of your child’s proper care is to get the Vaccination, as and when required.

Doctors have prescribed a series of vaccination for the child right from the time of their birth till they cross their teens. We need to be very punctual and take extra care about this. Regular vaccination and maintaining good nutritious diet will not only protect them from numerous diseases but will also ensure that they develop a sound body. And this will lead to their overall good health. Because a healthy mind develops in a healthy body, Isn’t it?

A normal Vaccine plan goes like this:

 - At Birth - Usually, at birth, Hepatitis B vaccination is given. It is repeated in next 1-2 months.

 - At 2 months - There are many vaccines whose dose starts at the 2nd month of the baby. Pneumococcal, Polio, RotaVirus, Tetanus and Whooping cough are some of them.

 - At 4 months - Usually, some vaccines are repeated including Pneumococcal, Polio, Tetanus and Whooping cough.

 - When baby turns one - Chicken Pox, Hepatitis A. Polio is repeated for the third time. Also, it’s the time for the last dose of Hib.

 - Later in life - Hepatitis A’s last dose is given at 18 - 24 months of the child. Diphtheria, Tetanus and Whooping cough are given for one last time at 4 to 6 years of age. Tetanus might be required later as and when the child gets scratches or cuts by metals (especially ferrous).

The last dose of Chickenpox comes at an age between 4 to 6 years again.

There are some seasonal dose like the vaccination against Influenza which is required every winter.

MMR Vaccine (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) is given to baby when they are a year old and another after 3 to 4 years. These are very crucial as if missed, increases the vulnerability of child towards these diseases.

There are specific vaccines like Meningococcal which are injected to the child based on certain symptoms and health condition which child may develop with time. It is better to regularly consult doctors regarding these and whenever any nonhealthy symptom is observed in the child.

Although these are general routines of Vaccination, it is not a foolproof plan. We advise you to kindly consult your doctor both during the birth of the child and thereafter at regular intervals. You should never neglect these things and never ever try to be a doctor yourself. In case of any unusual symptoms or behaviors by your child, immediately consult a doctor. Negligence causes a lot of complications which otherwise would have been avoided. Beware of your child’s body and help them grow into a healthy teen.

The process might be painful, but it gives you good long-term health benefits.
