We all know that coriander, lovingly called dhaniya, can be added to our dishes to make it look and smell so much better. It’s also used as an ingredient in oils and perfumes. But did you know that this wonder leaf can also be used in your daily skincare routine?
Coriander is rich in Vitamin C, antioxidants, beta-carotene and folates. It also contains iron which helps to increase haemoglobin levels, thus improving the appearance of dull skin. It is beneficial for all kinds of skin types - whether it is too oily or too dry. It can help solve problems like acne, eczema, and blackheads.
Here’s how you can incorporate coriander into your skincare routine:
1. To prevent breakouts
Boil coriander, lemongrass and chamomile in a pan. After it cools, make it into a paste and then apply it on your face. Leave for 20 minutes and rinse thoroughly with cold water. Doing this on a regular basis can reduce blackheads and pimples
2. Delay appearance of wrinkles and fine lines
Mix equal quantities of coriander paste and aloe vera gel and apply it on your face. Leave it for 15-20 minutes and rinse. This helps to delay or prevent the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines on your face.
3. For smooth and soft skin
Blend oatmeal (½ cups), cucumber(¼ cup), milk(¼ cup) and a handful of fresh coriander together into a fine paste. Apply this paste on your face and leave it on for 20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly for a soft and smooth skin.
4. Treat acne and acne marks
Mix coriander juice with lemon juice and apply the mixture on your face. This can be used to treat acne as well as reduce the appearance of acne marks.
5. For plump pink lips
The same mixture of coriander and lemon juice can be applied to cracked lips. Just apply the mixture to your lips and leave it overnight. Do this for a few days to see the difference.
