Trouble Conceiving? Make Sure You Are Not Making These Mistakes

Pregnancy is an amazing thing which both the mother and the father look forward to. Both the husband and wife dream of having a little baby with them, someone they can nurture and raise with all their love. And so, they try having a baby that requires a lot of time, patience and sex. But, sometimes, even after trying hard, there are chances that you might not get pregnant. Though sometimes it can be due to medical reasons, it can also be due to certain mistakes that you might have been making. Mentioned below are some of the common mistakes that people make.

1. Having sex on the day of ovulation

The one thing that most women do is that they keep a track of their ovulation cycle and have sex the day of the ovulation. But by then, it is too late. The egg can be fertilized for only 24 hours more after the ovulation and that’s very less time for the sperm to reach the egg. Thus, it is important that you have sex a day or two before ovulation so that by the time the sperm reaches the egg, it will be ready to be fertilized.

2. Having very less sex

You might think that having sex only during ovulation and not any other time will be enough and will increase your chances of conceiving. But, this is where you are mistaken. By not having sex for longer periods you can actually reduce your chances of conceiving. It's easy to miss the fertile period if sex is limited only to when you think you're ovulating because many women believe they're ovulating when they actually aren't and thus they end up reducing their chances significantly.

3. Thinking that the woman is the problem

When a couple has a difficult time getting pregnant, many people automatically think it means something is physically wrong with the woman. This is a highly wrong approach because it has been seen that it is more likely to have a low sperm count than some problem with the woman’s fertility. Also, instead of blaming the woman it is better that the couple takes advice from the doctor rather than blame someone.

4. Using lubricants

Commercial lubricants negatively affect sperm motility, making it harder for the sperm to reach the egg. Thus, if you use a lubricant then the conceiving can become a problem and so it is better that you avoid using lubrication. If you do want to use something, then use natural lubricants instead of chemical ones.

5. Having too much sex

If having less sex is bad then having too much sex can also create problems at times. Although, contrary to popular belief, it will not affect the motility of the man there are certainly other problems that can arise. If it's for reproductive purposes alone, having sex multiple times a day or even every single day could cause 'burnout,' and the couple may begin to view sex as little more than a pre-ovulatory chore. Then, when that window of fertility is open, one or both of the partners may not be interested, resulting in a missed opportunity.
