Dexter tyler shocked the entire world when he was born holding a Mirena coil in his little, closed fists. The mother, Lucy Hellein shared this photo of her newborn holding the copper T and it went instantly viral, gaining more than 72,000 shares thus far. But how did this happen?
The copper T or the Mirena coil is an intrauterine device (IUD) which is a form of contraception for women. It is a T shaped device (as the name suggests) which wrapped in copper wire. This device is inserted into the uterus and the tiny plastic string at the end of the copper-T and is hung from the cervix to the vagina. It generally provides protection for about 5 years or more.
The irony of this situation is that the baby that was conceived despite the usage of a contraception, came out holding the thing that was supposed to prevent pregnancy in the first place.
The mom hilariously captioned the photo of her child as ‘Mirena (Copper -T) fail’ and went on to mention the weight of the baby as 4.11 kgs. Apparently, the copper-T was found behind the placenta and the surgeons removed it at the same time the baby was delivered.
Baby Dexter is their third child and he was brought into the world by a C-section/Cesarean. Copper- T’s are generally considered 99% effective but Dexter must’ve been in that one percent. The doctors were quoted saying - ‘The force is strong with this one’. Apt, huh?
