Simple Self-Defense Techniques Every Woman Should Know (Video)

As a woman, you might’ve experienced that sinking feeling of someone following or stalking you more than once in your lifetime. There’s good reason to be this paranoid because, in this day and age, where every day you hear multiple reports of women being attacked, one can never be too safe. To defend yourself, you don’t have to be a black-belt karate champion, all you have to do is know a few self-defence techniques and you can get yourself out of most situations without being harmed.

A few things to keep in mind are :

1. A straight punch is always effective. To maximize the effect of this punch, push on the ball of your foot and thrust your hip and your fist forward at the same time.

2. The most vulnerable area of a man is the groin. A powerful kick to the groin rarely fails so always aim for this.

3. If the person is too close for you to punch or groin kick, the next best thing for you to do is the knee kick. Raise your knee and kick them right in the shins. If possible, try and hold the attacker in the area between his neck and shoulder.

4. If you’re grabbed from behind, rather than trying hard to get them to remove their hands from you, try to wiggle downwards so that their grip loosens and you have higher chances of escaping.

Of course, these are only a few situations that one could find herself in. Two golden rules to follow - Don't miss out on an opportunity to run and a pepper spray will always come in handy. Remember - It’s always better to be prepared than be sorry.
