Simple And Painless Natural Remedies For Facial Hair Removal

When we think of facial hair removal methods, we instantly think of threading, waxing, tweezing or hair removal creams. All these methods are either expensive, painful or both. Some even opt for using razors but if they are used incorrectly, they could cause ingrown hairs. Also, since they don’t pull out the hairs from the root, unlike other methods which mean the hair will grow back faster.

The other painless option is laser hair removal but this method burns a huge hole in the pocket which is why this method still remains to be used only by the privileged lot. So here are a few ways to get rid of hair that won’t burn a hole in your pocket as you can find all of these ingredients in your home.

1. Tulsi (Basil) And Onion

This remedy is super easy and doesn’t require too much effort. All you need is a large onion and a bunch of tulsi or basil leaves.

First, cut an onion in half and separate out the layers. Peel out the thin outer membrane from these layers and put them into a bowl or mortar. Add 10 basil leaves to this and crush them with the help of a pestle into a fine paste. Apply the paste on your face and leave for 15-20 minutes. Rinse off with warm water and repeat this whole procedure 2-3 times a week. After doing this for a month, you will notice that all your facial hair is gone.

2. Egg whites

Although this method is gentler than waxing your face, you should be prepared for just a little bit of pain. Just keep in mind the smooth hairless face you will have after this.

Prepare a mixture of the whites of one egg, a tablespoon of powdered sugar and one tablespoon of cornstarch. Whip this mixture until it becomes a thick paste. Smooth the paste on to your face and allow it to dry for a few minutes. Once it hardens, just rip the mask off your face. Make sure your skin is held tight while doing this.

3. Potato and moong dal

You literally have both of these ingredients in your home all the time so why not use it to make an inexpensive hair removal paste?

Soak a small bowl of moong dal in water overnight. Mash them with a mortar and pestle and keep aside. Peel a potato, grate it and extract the juice into a glass (you can use a food processor instead). Mix this potato juice with the moong dal paste. Add a spoonful of honey and 4 spoons of lemon juice to this mixture. Mix it until it forms a thick and smooth paste. Apply it wherever you need to remove hair and let it sit for about 20 minutes. Once it is dry, rub the paste so that it starts to fall off. Since potato juice also acts as a bleaching agent, it will even bleach any hair that gets left behind.

4. Oatmeal Scrub

Now, this hair removal method doubles up as a face exfoliant. This is gentle on the skin and is suitable even for sensitive skin. Oatmeal is also known to reduce redness of the skin due to being in the sun and give protection from the sun’s UV rays.

For this, you would need a teaspoon each of oatmeal and lemon juice and one tablespoon of honey. Mix it to form a paste. Apply this to your face and leave for 15-20 minutes. Then rub the skin gently in circular motion and then rinse off with warm water. Repeat this 2-3 times a week until the hair is fully gone.

5. Homemade wax

If you are used to waxing off the unwanted hair from your face (moustache, sideburns, etc) then this one's for you. It is an inexpensive way to wax your face - and less painful too!

All you need for this is honey, sugar and lemon juice. For your face, you would only require one tablespoon of sugar and half tablespoon of honey. Add just a few drops of lemon juice to this and mix it thoroughly. Heat this mixture over the stove until the melts and the mixture becomes a light yellowish brown paste. Allow it to cool for a while but not completely. While it is still warm, apply the mixture on to the part of your face that you want to wax. Put a thin strip of cloth or a wax strip over this and rub it a few times. Pull it in the opposite direction of hair growth. This will help remove unwanted hair from your face.
