Myths VS Facts: Things You Must Know About Cleaning Your House

Everyone has their own approach when it comes to cleaning their house. We usually take great efforts to beautify our home and keep it looking clean and tidy since it reflects on us.Visitors generally judge us based on how the house is kept but it’s more than that. It’s for our own peace of mind. After all, if your house is as clean as a whistle, you’ll be fit as a fiddle. We all have our own favorite tips and tricks, whether it’s been passed down from family members or something we came across in a magazine. They needn’t always be true. Here we debunk some of the most common cleaning myths:

Coca-cola is an amazing toilet cleaner

Rumour has it that the acids (citric and phosphoric) in the soda is an excellent way to get rid of hard to eliminate stains and toilet rust rings. While the acidic nature might be helpful in eliminating hard water stains, it is not recommended. It could, in fact, darken stains and the sugar could lead to bacteria build up.

Newspapers are the best to clean glass

This too is just a myth with no substantial evidence to back it up. The paper can rip easily and the ink can get transferred to the glass making it harder to clean. This just means more work. This is especially true if the ink is petroleum- based. Microfiber cloth is the best at cleaning without leaving any stains.

Hand washing dishes is better than using a dishwasher

This may be true if your dishwasher is ancient. Today’s models are far superior to hand washing. They save water, time and effort. Since they heat the water to 140° F, they disinfect the dishes too.

The floor cleaner you use is safe

The chemical cleaning products promise to leave your floor shiny and spotless but what they fail to mention is the impact the chemicals have on your health and the environment. Especially households with toddlers and kids are more at risk since the chemicals may be absorbed by the baby’s skin. The toxins may cause respiratory and dermatological problems to name a few. Switching over to natural cleaners is the best option and one that has the least negative impact on your family and the environment.

The Tinystep floor cleaner is all natural and free from the chemicals and toxins present in regular cleaners. The ingredients used are vinegar, baking soda, and neem extract all of which are familiar to everyone. This is something that you should definitely look into as it is safe for you and your family too!
