A bad hair day can be extremely distressing and annoying in equal measures. The uncontrollable frizz, damaged texture, split ends, tangles, dryness, and breakages are all things that you and your hair can definitely do without. This is where a good conditioner can be beneficial as it makes your hair soft, controls frizz, and gets rid of tangles.
While there are a number of high-quality conditioners from popular brands, most of them fail to live up to their promise of keeping your hair healthy. There’s also a dearth of tailor-made hair care products that are meant specifically for each type of hair.
In such a scenario, wouldn’t it be great if you could make your own conditioner that’s perfect for your locks? Truth is that homemade conditioners are really simple to make and barely cost you anything. What’s more? These homemade conditioners, if done right, are just as effective when compared to what’s out there in the market. Most importantly, your locks are never exposed to any harsh chemicals. Read on to see how you can make your very own hair conditioner at home!
Avocado and Banana Conditioner
This homemade conditioner is ideal for dull and damaged hair. You’ll need bananas, avocados, eggs, honey, and extra virgin olive oil. While bananas nourish your hair and prevent it from becoming frizzy, avocados help in improving hair growth and moisturizing. The olive oil makes your hair shiny and healthy while honey adds sheen to your locks and lightens it.
For starters, peel an avocado and smash it into a paste. Now, add half a banana and 2 tablespoons of olive oil to the avocado paste. Put this mix in a blender and add an egg along with a teaspoon of honey. Blend the mixture until it’s soft. You can start applying this conditioner from the top of your locks and gradually work your way downwards. Remember to not apply it to your scalp. Leave the conditioner on for 10 minutes before you rinse it for desired results.
Vinegar Egg Conditioner
To make this conditioner, you’ll need eggs, olive oil, honey, vinegar, and lemon juice. To begin with, whisk 2-3 egg yolks in a bowl thoroughly. Add a 100 ml of vinegar and lemon juice to this mix. Now, add 200 ml of olive oil along with 2-3 tablespoons of honey and mix the ingredients well using a blender until you have a thick, whipped paste. Apply this conditioner on the tips of your damaged hair and leave it on for about 10-15 minutes before you rinse it off with water.
Coconut Milk and Almond Oil Conditioner
This conditioner is the way to go if you’re not able to handle your dry hair. The ingredients you’ll need to make it are honey, milk, coconut milk, almond oil, and rose water. Start off by mixing a tablespoon each of all the mentioned ingredients in a bowl and set it aside. Once you’re done washing your hair, apply the conditioner to your damp locks in sections and leave it on for 15-20 minutes. You could even wrap a towel around your head or wear a shower cap to facilitate maximum exposure. Now, you can go ahead and rinse the conditioner off your hair using either lukewarm or cold water.
