Who doesn't want to look beautiful? From expensive beauty products to professional help, people (especially women) try anything and everything under the sun to look beautiful. But what if we tell you that you can also look beautiful and ravishing sans any make-up. Yes, you heard it right! Many natural products and home remedies are available which work wonders to add an extra spark to your overall appearance. Thus, if you also want to enhance your beauty by several folds without leaving a big hole in the pocket, here's what you need to do.
Keep yourself hydrated:
A lot of the skin problems such as acne breakout is triggered by the build-up of toxins in the body. Drinking water (6-8 glasses or 2-3 litres daily) throughout the day not only keeps the body hydrated but also help to eliminate the harmful chemicals and toxins out of the body, doing the skin a world of good. However, in an endeavour to achieve maximum benefits, do not try to gulp down litres of water at one go.
Exfoliation or getting rid of the dead skin cells from the outer skin layer is an essential part of the skin-care and beauty regime. While scrubs and exfoliation products are available in the market, you can prepare one at home. All you need are lemon juice (~ ½ teaspoon), honey (~ 1 tablespoon, preferably organic), and brown sugar (1 tablespoon). All the three ingredients used in this scrub are laden with vitamins and minerals and are known for their exfoliating, skin lightening and nourishing properties.
Take all the ingredients in a bowl and mix them well. Wash your face with cold water before using the scrub.
Apply this lemon-honey-sugar scrub on your wet face and massage gently in circular motion for about 2-3 minutes using your fingertips.
After 5 minutes, wash off the scrub from your face with cold water.
Pat dry the face with a soft and clean towel.
Use this scrub twice a week and you will soon feel the difference.
Be it oily or normal skin, a toner plays an instrumental role in keeping the skin clean and blemish free, not to forget its effectiveness in alleviating the skin inflammation and redness to an appreciable extent. A lot of the natural ingredients, be it the lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, green tea or rose water serves as an excellent skin toner.
If you have an oily skin type, just take a cup of purified/filtered water. To this, add a tablespoon each of apple cider vinegar and freshly squeezed lemon juice. Mix them well. The skin toner for oily skin is ready for use.
You can also prepare a toner mixing filtered water (~ 2 cups) with rose petals (~ ½ cup, can be dry or fresh petals) for maximum skin benefits.
Green tea (brewed and cooled down to which few drops of essential oil such as lavender oil have been added) can serve as a wonderful toner giving the skin a silky smooth texture.
If the dry and rough skin has been giving you sleepless nights, you can use
Aloe vera: Laden with cooling and anti-inflammatory properties, aloe vera not only helps to moisturize the skin but also take care of a myriad of skin problems such as eczema, psoriasis, and acne. To use aloe vera, just cut an aloe vera leaf, collect the gel from inside and apply on your face and other affected skin areas.
Shea butter, buttermilk, honey (preferably organic and diluted in water), coconut oil (preferably raw/virgin organic oil), olive oil can all be used as an excellent skin moisturizer.
Natural Blush-on and Foundation:
For those who love to use a blusher, here's how you can make it at home.
Take 1/2 teaspoon each of Hibiscus flower powder, Cocoa powder (organic), and Arrowroot powder. Mix them well and store in an airtight container.
For a natural and homemade foundation, you will need
1/4 cup each of Kaolin Clay and Arrowroot powder
In a small bowl, add the Kaolin clay and Arrowroot powder. To this add the cocoa powder (about 1/4 teaspoon at a time until you get the foundation of the desired colour).
While there are many other procedures available for the preparation of home-made foundation, the Kaolin clay-Arrowroot-Cocoa foundation is simple and hassle-free.
