Should Chinese Food Be Avoided During Pregnancy
There are many reasons due to which doctors advice not to intake chinese cuisines while a woman is expecting. One of the main reason is the ingredient MSG ( MONOSODIUM GLUTAMATE ).
MSG is a food additive used dominantly in chinese food items to enhance flavour. It is considered as an excitotoxin and is potent enough to harm a growing brain and nervous system. It also crosses the placental barrier which over stimulates the growing brain of the fetus. The excitatory neurotransmitter in MSG can even cause autism, schizophrenia and cerebral palsy in the later years of life. One of the major reasons to blacklist these foods is due to a higher chance of containing a lethal bacteria called listeria. Thus it is suggested by the doctors to avoid having chinese food during pregnancy.
Ajinomoto Side Effects
The main ingredient of ajinomoto is MSG,which is used for enhancing the flavour of the food and therefore ajinomoto has various side effects which are as follows :
Ajinomoto induces the nerves and causes imbalance of the neurotransmitters. It can cause numbness, tingling or burning sensations in the face and neck. It is also known to cause disorders such as Alzheimer’s, Huntington’s and multiple sclerosis.
Consuming ajinomoto on a regular basis leads to overweight or obesity. High intake of it may cause leptin resistance, which results in a person overeating and becoming obese.
Ajinomoto has a high content of MSG which contains about one third of the sodium found in table salt. Consuming MSG increases the salt intake, which can have adverse consequences like water retention, swelling in the legs and even lead to increase in blood pressure. It also causes arterial fibrillation, palpitations and arrhythmia.
The MSG content in ajinomoto is a neurotransmitter that stimulates the brain cells or neurons, which can keep you awake at night and trigger insomnia. It also increases the risk of snoring and sleep related breathing disorders.
Migraine and Chest Pain
Excess consumption of ajinomoto causes headaches in some people and can trigger minor headache that can snowball into a severe migraine. Eating food that contain ajinomoto can result in sudden drop or increase in heart beats, abnormal heart rate, chest pains and cardiac muscle arrests.
