Instant Noodles. How Toxic Is It?

Everyone loves instant noodles! They are delicious and easy to cook. What’s better than being able to make a meal in just a few minutes. The kids love them as well, since they are a little treat. People who work and do not have a lot of time to prepare a normal meal love them as well. The options for preparing noodles are endless and another benefit is that they are very cheap. It may be the biggest reason why they are so popular.

However,everyone also knows that instant noodles is not healthy. The main problem is that people think that they are not dangerous either. Truth is, they are. They do not have any nutritional value and eating them may lead to serious health problems. If you eat them along with vegetables, you may increase the nutrition content in the dish, but you will not erase the fact that they are still dangerous.

Here are a few reasons why you should stop eating instant noodles.

1. Destructive digestion

The bad digestion may sound normal, but is in fact harmful. The noodles stay in the digestive system for so long that it may cause overexposure to toxins and preservatives. This may cause asthma or diarrhoea, and may even have a bad influence over the reproductive organs and the liver.

2. Saturated fats

If you eat foods that contain high amounts of fat, it may lead to obesity, but saturated fats are especially dangerous because they produce bad cholesterol and increase the chances of heart disease. You should avoid eating saturated fats. Instant noodles have different manufacturers and the content of saturated fats is different. They are prepared in palm oil, butter or even lard, and they are loaded with saturated fats. Before eating or even purchasing them, you should read the ingredients and nutrition label.

3. Sodium

Sodium helps in enhance the flavour, but if you use a lot of it, it may be dangerous. If you compare the moderate consumption of sodium to using a lot of sodium, it may lead to increased death rate. Instant noodles have a very high amount of sodium, which is a major cause of high blood pressure, heart diseases and stroke.

4. Instant noodles contain wax

Wax is one of the main reasons that make instant noodles as harmful as they are. It is this waxy substance that prevents the noodles from becoming sticky when you cook it. The wax content of the instant noodles can be a cause of stomach problems and constipation.

5. Monosodium glutamate (MSG)

MSG in instant noodles is added to make it taste as delicious as it does. It is sometimes referred to as the ‘obesity’ drug, so if you’re thinking about consuming instant noodles as part of your ‘new year, new you’ diet plan, you may want to scratch it right off your shopping list.

With the 5 reasons above, does that mean you should not eat instant noodles at all? Well, you needn’t completely avoid unhealthy food. It is alright to satisfy our cravings occasionally. However, since instant noodles is a highly-processed food that is low in fibre and essential nutrients, but high in carbohydrates, sodium and food additives, it should not be eaten on a regular basis.
