How To Get Year-Round Smooth And Glowing Skin

Tired of shelling out money on costly cosmetics to keep your skin glowing and healthy, year-round? Women already have a lot of things to worry about and skin issues should not be one of them. The society creates rules of perfect skin and the media further endorses them by showing picture-perfect actresses on screen. While taking care of your skin is important, you need to know that everyone’s body goes through changes (hormonal) and it is okay to not have perfect skin at all points of time.

Don’t fall prey to the hundreds of thousands of advertisements that at times, are misleading. Instead, take a look at these home remedies to get a smooth and glowing skin year-round.

1. Turmeric

Turmeric has many medicinal properties and is known for its anti-inflammatory nature. It enhances collagen production and makes your skin supple. You can make a mask with a few ingredients following these steps – Mix turmeric powder with gram flour (Chickpea flour). Add milk or water to form a paste. Apply this on your face, keep for about 15 to 20 minutes and then rinse with plain water. You can apply this mask about 2-3 times in a week.

2. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil locks moisture in your skin and helps to nourish essential fatty acids. Its phenolic compounds act as antioxidants and give you a glowing skin. Lightly warm up coconut oil and apply on your face and neck. Massage for a few minutes in gentle circular motions. Leave this on overnight. You can use this remedy every night before going to bed.

3. Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is the ultimate solution for any skin related problems. Its nourishing and healing properties will rejuvenate your skin and give it a natural glow. Mix together the following ingredients to make a face pack – 1 tablespoon Aloe Vera gel, honey, milk. If you are allergic to honey, you can skip it. Apply this pack on your skin about twice every week and leave it on for about 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water and pat dry.

4. Lemon

Lemon cleanses, bleaches and removes tan. It is one of the best natural skin brightening agents. It is also advisable to drop a few lemon slices in your drinking water as they aid in digestion and give you a smooth skin. Mix 2 tablespoons of sugar and 2 tablespoons of lemon juice. Apply the mixture on your face and scrub in gentle circular motions. Leave it on for 10 minutes. Rinse off to reveal a fresh and glowing skin. Repeat this twice a week.

5. Papaya

Ripe Papaya contains an enzyme that acts as a mild exfoliator. This gently removes the top layer of dead cells from your skin and leaves it younger looking and radiant. It clears the dirt and oil which prevent acne breakout on your face. Make the following pack and use it about once every week – small pieces of ripe papaya, sandalwood powder or Multani mitti and honey; mix these ingredients together and apply all over your neck and face. Keep it on for 20-30 minutes and then rinse with cool water. This pack also acts as a skin-firming and anti-ageing face pack.
