Ovarian cysts are fluid-filled sacs or pockets that develop in or around women’s ovaries. They can generally be seen during ovulation while the ovary releases the eggs. Most women have them at least one point in their life but they are not exactly considered as an illness. More often than not they don’t show any symptoms, but sometimes these can be accompanied by irregularities in your menstrual cycle, pelvic and lower back pain and pain during sex.
The reasons that one might develop an ovarian cyst can vary from hormonal imbalance to smoking to using certain types of medicines such as Tamoxifen.
Although not harmful they can be unpleasant at times, so here are a few home remedies that you can try to get rid of ovarian cysts right at the comfort of your home.
1. Chamomile Tea
This herbal tea is an amazing natural remedy to treat ovarian cysts because of its gentle sedative agents that help you relax and ease the pain. As it encourages blood flow to the uterus and pelvic areas, it can also be used in regulating your periods.
Boil some dried chamomile in water for a few minutes. Strain it and add some honey to make it delicious. You can drink this tea 2 to 3 times in a day until you see the results.
2. Apple cider vinegar
Apple cider vinegar might arguably be the most effective way to get rid of cysts. Since it is rich in potassium, It can actually dissolve the cysts that are formed due to lack of potassium and completely eliminate them.
Add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and a tablespoon of blackstrap molasses (A byproduct of sugarcane refining) to a glass of warm water. Drink this mixture every day and in no time you can see visible shrinkage of ovarian cysts.
3. Epsom Salt bath
Because of the high content of magnesium sulfate in Epsom salt, it serves as a great muscle relaxant to help ease the pain. Many studies show that having an Epsom salt bath will reduce the pain and many other symptoms associated with ovarian cysts.
Mix a cup of Epsom salt in warm water and pour the solution into your bathtub. You can also add a few drops of essential oils like rose, lavender or jasmine. Stir until the salt dissolves and then soak your lower body in the bathtub for about 30 minutes. You can do this every day until you see a noticeable difference in the pain.
4. Castor oil
Castor oil can get rid of excessive tissues and toxins in your body. It reduces and dissolves ovarian cysts by stimulating the lymphatic and circulatory system.
You can use a flannel cloth that is folded into several layers to make a castor oil pack. Add a few teaspoons of castor oil and lay the cloth on top of the abdomen while you lay down. Place a hot water bottle over the cloth and cover yourself up in warm blankets. Leave it be for 30 minutes and repeat this procedure 3 times in a week until your cysts are completely gone.
5. Ginger juice
Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties that reduce inflammation and relieve pain. It also increases your body heat therefore essentially kickstarting your period.
Make a ginger juice by adding a few pieces of ginger, half a cup of apple juice, two celery stalks and a few pieces of pineapple into a grinder or a juicer. Drink this juice every day at least twice in a day until the problem of ovarian cysts is solved.
