Home Remedies For Your Baby’s Rashes
Nappy rashes are among the most common problems your babies (and you, of course) have to put up with. They are usually caused due to irregular changing of wet or dirty nappies. The irritable substances from urine and poop, like ammonium acids and so on, stick onto your child’s bum for a long time, generating a friction. It is this friction that leads to rashes, causing your baby to cry endlessly in pain.
However, there are many home remedies that help cure rashes in general, and these can be found in your kitchen, so you needn’t worry about going too far for help. Let us check out some easily available home remedies that will help relieve and cure rashes.
1. Baking soda (bicarbonate of soda)
Yep! It is more than just your baking tool. Take half a teaspoon of baking soda and mix it in a bowl of water. Stir properly until dissolved. Use this solution to clean your baby’s irritated bum with cotton or a soft cloth. You can also bathe your baby with the solution. Just make sure the water is lukewarm and the solution isn’t too concentrated.
2. Neem leaves (margosa)
You read it right! This ancient herb that your grandmum and her mum went gaga over does deserve the praise. It is extremely diverse and could be used for multiple purposes in multiple ways. Just crush a few neem leaves and mix them with water to form a paste. You can also add gramme flour to it. Apply the paste to the irritated area for about 20 minutes and wash it off with water. You will see a difference in no time.
3. Vinegar (acetic acid)
Vinegar is one of the most effective ingredients when it comes to ruling out nappy rashes. It works against the acidic reactions from urine and softens the skin soon enough. Just apply some vinegar on the area and let it be for another 20 minutes. Wait and watch the magic!
Who knew this food, a reluctant choice for every diet conscious adult, would also come handy for nappy rashes?! Yes, grinding a few grains of oatmeal and mixing it with water to bathe your baby with can cure his/her rashes. It contains a chemical called saponin, which is extremely helpful in cleansing the skin of every dirt.
5. Fuller’s earth (multani mitti)
Popularly known as Multani Mitti, fuller’s earth is highly effective when applied on the area mixed either with a little water or also dry. Keep it on for approximately half an hour and wipe it off with fresh wet wipes.
You can also use products such as coconut oil to keep the area moist.
Do not forget to clean the area at regular intervals. It might be tiring, but it’s important to maintain your baby’s hygiene. Use clean clothes to clad the area and also make sure your baby gets enough air to keep the area cool. Heat only aggravates it!
