Mix half a teaspoon of salt in a cup of warm, filtered water. Let this mixture cool down. Now, clean your kid’s nostrils gently and use a dropper to administer the saline drops. Remember to keep your child’s head tilted so the medicine doesn’t flow out.
Dry-Roasted Turmeric Rub
Turmeric is a popular spice that’s known for its anti-bacterial properties. For starters, place a dried stick of turmeric on a small flame until there’s a slightly charred texture to it. Now, rub this stick on a stone and make a paste. Apply this turmeric paste on the bridge of your child’s nose for relief from cold or a cough. You could also apply warm turmeric paste on your child’s chest, forehead, and feet for better results.
Jaggery, Cumin, and Black Pepper
Jaggery, cumin, and black pepper are quite common kitchen ingredients that are pretty easy to get a hold of. A well-made concoction of these ingredients can be highly effective in dealing with cold, cough and sore throat in children. All you need to do is mix 1 or 2 teaspoons of jaggery powder, a pinch of cumin seeds, and 1 or 2 teaspoons of black pepper powder in a cup of water. Boil this mixture for about 10-15 minutes. Now, strain the concoction and let it cool before feeding it to your kid.
