Hey Mommy, Are You Summer Ready?
Summer is harsh on everyone! This summer, save yourself. Protect your body and skin from the harsh weather. Don’t let the sun and heat prevent you from cuddling with your little one. Here are a few summer tips for you mums out there. Just a few ways to beat the heat.
The most important thing to remember is to stay hydrated. The heat and the sun tend to make you sweat and this will leave your body with less water and more salts. To make up for this loss, you have to keep drinking water throughout the day. Water isn’t the only way to stay hydrated, however. Fresh juice and fruits and veggies with a high water content are a great way to get the quantity of water your body requires this summer!
The sun can be quite harsh which could damage your skin cells and leave your skin irritated, burnt, and inflamed. In order to protect your skin from this harsh damage, you must remember to apply sunscreen. Do not just apply this once a day. As the day progresses, the sunscreen tends to come off. So remember to apply it whenever necessary. Don’t apply too much as this could leave your skin feeling sticky which will lead to extra discomfort, considering the weather.
3. Cooling Gels
In case you’ve forgotten about point 2 and your skin is now hot, red, and irritated, you can try using cooling gels and balms such as aloe vera gel. These will soothe the skin and help heal it faster. It also helps reduce peeling and redness of your skin.
You may think that it’s summer, so why apply moisturizer because it’s going to leave you feeling sticky. There are different moisturizers and lotions made especially for summer. Applying these will also help protect your skin by trapping the moisture and keeping your skin hydrated. It keeps your skin nourished and can help soothe irritated skin.
5. Food Habits
Another clever way to beat the weather is by regulating what you are letting into your body. Certain foods like dairy products, excessive meat, and oily products tend to be hard on your digestive system and therefore create more heat in your body. Eating healthier by indulging in more veggies and fruits can help prevent this extra heat. They’re easier to digest and some fruits and veggies contain anti-oxidants which are beneficial for your body. In addition, remember to eat stuff that has a high water content. They’ll tend to fill you up as well as keep you hydrated.
Summer heat can tend to facilitate bacterial growth and spreading. Personal hygiene is important so as to not spread bacteria, especially with a child in the house. Bacteria grows in warm and moist climates. Therefore, a sweaty body is like paradise. Remember to bathe regularly. Wash your face periodically, especially if you tend to sweat a lot. Exfoliation is also important so that you can get rid of all the dead skin and the bacteria trapped under it.
7. Wardrobe Choices
The final piece of advice we have for you is to check your summer wardrobe. Wear light colours as they absorb less heat. Also, wear light and breathable materials to prevent excess sweating and moisture accumulating as it will lead to spreading of bacteria as was mentioned earlier. You can also pair your clothes with funky summery hats and shades of your choice. Try to go au-natural with your make-up.
These are few tips to beat the heat. You could also try to spend more time swimming and other such activities that can keep your body cool. These are natural ways to beat the heat, much better than being stuck indoors the entire day.
