Trying to get pregnant? According to a new report, seafood might help increase your chances of getting pregnant faster. You may have already known that seafood was good for you, but seafood can also help speed along a couple’s attempt to conceive.
The study found that couples who eat seafood 2-3 times a week get pregnant faster. This could be due to the nutritional value of fish, which is a rich source of good proteins, vitamins, and essential fatty acids that should be a part of your diet.
According to the study, the nutrients in fish might have a positive impact on reproductive capacity, either by increasing sexual activity or by improving semen quality in men, and ovulation and embryo quality in women. This could explain why the time to get pregnant also decreases.
Though these benefits are known, a common concern is the danger of mercury poisoning through fish. While this concern is valid, and high mercury fish like king mackerel, shark, swordfish, yellow-fish tuna, and marlin should be avoided, the lower mercury fish have a lot of nutritional value. Make sure to eat fish with lower mercury content, which includes salmon, tilapia, tuna, cod and catfish, consuming no more than 2 or 3 servings per week while trying to conceive.
