The 10th month is exciting for the baby as well as the parents as the menu can be prepared by opting out the thick purees and including more of solid foods. Do not confuse the child’s inability to consume the extra servings, he/she might just be a picky eater. So you must insist your child has the certain nutritious food in the diet even if the child creates a fuss in eating them. Also, respect your child’s independence if he or she refuses to be spoon fed. In fact parents should and more often than not, gleam with joy when the child begins to grab the spoon and learns to feed himself or herself. Be patient, buy those extra aprons and table mats and be prepared to wipe off the mess your child will create in learning to feed himself. Start the day with breast milk by breast feeding him early in the morning. Breaking the fast can now be more and more exciting as you hand out more solid foods like wheat dosa or wheat pancakes. Mid-morning food is again some more mommy’s milk. Include food items like Moong dal khichdi for lunch. Hand out fruits like Pear or a Muskmelon during early evening. Dinner can be oats and banana porridge followed by breastmilk during bedtime.
Before you handover idli or steamed dosa to your little one make sure he/she has had breastmilk in the morning. Similarly lunch should be preceded by breast milk again. And lunch can be curd rice and make sure the curd is homemade. Serve cooked carrot or potato salad if your child craves for food during early evening. Dinner should be vegetable dosa followed by breast milk during bedtime.
Make use of last night’s extra dosa batter by making a quick dosa with veggies. Do not forget the early morning breastmilk before breakfast. Lunch can be mashed rice with tomato rasam preceded by breastmilk during midmorning. Banana pancakes is a good food for the early evening snack. Dinner should be light like wheat porridge followed by milk during bedtime.
Start the early morning with breast milk followed by vegetable upma or sooji for breakfast. Lunch should be rice and plain dal preceded by a mid-morning breast milk. Apple carrot soup can be something that can be served as an early evening snack. Dinner should be rice coupled with mild sambar followed by breast milk during bedtime.
Maintain the early morning feed of breast milk along with dalia khichdi and then again breast milk during mid-morning, serve mixed vegetable rice for lunch followed by apple milkshake during early evening. Dinner should be something like idli or steamed dosa. Then again breast milk during bedtime. .
Start the weekend with breast milk early in the morning and followed by bread upma for breakfast. Mid-morning snack should be nothing but breast milk. Make spinach rice for the infant and handover a glass of fresh smoothie with curd as an early evening snack. Poha or upma sounds great for dinner. And end the day good and healthy by feeding your baby breast milk at nighttime
After the daily dose of early morning breast milk start his/her day with green gram dosa coupled with breast milk again later in the morning. Dal khichdi with toor and green veggies is a good and sumptuous combination for lunch. Make your baby have some crumbled tofu as the early evening snack followed by ragi dosa for dinner. Nighttime should be again reserved for mommy’s milk.
As you make your child consume new items like paneer, eggs, dalia ; do not expect the child to adapt to these new foods instantly. The child might take some time adjusting his taste buds to these newly introduced food items. Keep your head cool and let the child adapt to these new food items.
