Emotional: This Dad Helps "Breastfeed" The Baby While Mom Recovers From Illness

Breastfeeding your baby soon after birth is a very important part of nourishing and caring for his health. A mom looks forward to holding her baby and feeding him for the first time, as it forms a priceless mother and baby bond that lasts throughout life.

But sometimes, things can get out of hand, like in the case of April and Maxamillian, a couple in Wisconsin, who recently experienced a rough time. Maxamillian and April Neubauer recently had a beautiful baby girl that they named Rosalia. The couple was overjoyed about their blessing, but things got tough and scary when April was giving birth.

April had seizures when her water broke, and then had several seizures before she was taken for a C-section delivery. April’s initial plan was to breastfeed her baby, but she was rushed to the ICU moments after the delivery, and was in no condition to breastfeed.

Understanding the value that breastfeeding held for a baby’s health, Maxamillian decided that the baby would not the skin-to-skin contact and sense of comfort that the first breastfeed gives the baby. So with the help of the nurses at the hospital, he was able to mimic breastfeeding and feed his little girl.

Nurses at the hospital created a supplemental nursing system to enable Max to step up in place of April. Once this was set up, Maxamillian held the baby close, and she was able to latch on the fake nipple and have her first breastfeed thanks to Daddy. April, who was in no condition to breastfeed, says that having her baby was a miracle in the first place, as she has Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, a hormonal disorder, which can make it more difficult for women to get pregnant.

The story has won hearts all over the internet, and the heartwarming picture of Maxamillian with Rosalia has been shared over 30,000 times, according to reports.

Now, isn’t that a beautiful story? Rosalia is a very lucky baby with the best, most loving parents! Although a mom and a dad can never exactly replace each other, what’s better than seeing them lovingly do all they can for their baby?
