Don't Miss Out On These Tips For Your Baby's Skin This Festive Season

baby skin care

Christmas and New Year’s are just around the corner. When you are meeting old friends and family, you would want your little one to look their best. So make sure their skin is always soft, healthy and glowing.

During winters, the cold, dry air will pull the moisture out of their skin causing their skin to get dry and rough. Their skin loses moisture much faster and is 10 times more sensitive than our skin. This is why you need to ensure your baby’s skin stays moisturized and hydrated throughout the day.

Here are some baby skin care tips that you should follow:

1. Pre-Bath

Time spent in the water and the heat of the water can end up drying out their skin. So before bathing your baby, make sure to prep their skin with a baby massage oil. Gently massage it all over their body before bathing them. Your little one would require to take a full bath every 3 days. A daily bath is not necessary. Wiping their face, hands and legs every day with warm water and a soft cotton cloth would do the job.

You Can Try:

Sebamed Baby Massage Oil has a botanical formulation with 95% soya oil and 5% wheatgerm oil. It is a light, non-greasy formulation, free from any artificial colours or preservatives and is hence, perfectly safe and gentle for your little one.

2. Bath Time

Our skin barrier has a pH level of 5.5 to 6. Newborn babies have a skin pH of 7. Within 3 months, it will become 5.5. But most cleansers have a high alkaline content, i.e., the pH level is 7 or higher and this can lead to skin damage.

You Can Try:

Sebamed products have a pH of 5.5. So make sure to use either Sebamed Baby Wash or Sebamed Baby Cleansing Bar. It maintains the natural lipid levels in your baby’s skin. It is completely free of irritants and allergens making it the perfect choice for your baby’s bath time. Panthenol in the Bar stimulates the regeneration of the skin along with the moisturizing complex with wheat germ oil, vitamins and amino acids nourishes and hydrates the baby's skin, reducing water loss through the skin.

3. Post Bath

After the bath is done, gently pat their skin dry with a soft towel to retain as much moisture as possible. Apply baby lotion and cream immediately after this. This will help restore the moisture content in your little one’s skin. Make sure to reapply often as your baby’s skin will get dry during the day.

You Can Try:

Sebamed Baby Lotion has been clinically proven to increase baby skin hydration by 16% in 3 weeks. It contains Chamomile which soothes the skin and 7% lipid compound oil-in-water emulsion, it gets Rapidly absorbed without greasy residue. Carry the lotion with you whenever you step out with your baby.

4. Dressing Up

During the festive season, we want our little ones to stay warm and comfortable. Layering them up would be a good idea (not too many layers though!). You can remove or add layers depending on their comfort. Keep checking on them to see if their skin feels hot or cold. Make sure the clothes are not too tight as this may end up causing skin infections. The clothes should be breathable and comfortable. Make sure to apply a baby powder to prevent rashes due to friction.

You Can Try:

Sebamed Baby Powder is free from allergens and skin irritants. It contains olive oil which soothes and protects the baby's skin from dryness. It also contains Allantoin which makes the skin soft and smooth along with a pleasant botanical fragrance.

5. Diaper Area Skin Care

Make sure your baby’s diaper fits them properly. Also, they may wet their diapers more frequently due to the cold weather. Check and change their diapers every 1-2 hours to avoid irritation or rashes. After every diaper change, clean your baby’s tush and apply a rash cream. Most rash creams contain zinc oxide which has a pH of 7. Make sure your baby’s rash cream has a pH of 5.5.

You Can Try:

Sebamed Rash Cream contains micronized titanium dioxide instead of zinc oxide. pH 5.5 normalizes the skin pH if it is elevated by occlusion and urine contact and helps protect from harmful microorganisms which can cause superinfection of the dermatitis skin.

Following these tips will make sure your little one’s skin is bright, healthy and glowing this festive season. Using baby skin care products with a pH level closer to 5.5 will help protect your baby’s skin. Sebamed Baby Care products would be the perfect companion to meet your baby’s skin care needs.
