Benefits of the Morning Water Therapy

Water is one of our basic life essentials apart from air, food and shelter. It is no wonder then that drinking water has so many benefits to human beings. More than 60% of our body is made up of water. We need to consume 2-3 litres of water (varies depending on our height, weight, gender and age) to ensure that our body functions correctly. 

The Japanese water therapy, also dubbed as the ‘morning water therapy’ has multiple benefits for our health. It is known to fix any stomach problems and can even help you lose weight.

Why it is important

Those early morning hours are known as the ‘golden hours’. So before you start your day, why not prepare your body by doing something that will make it 5 times more efficient? The Japanese have been found to have a higher longevity compared to other countries.

Along with the morning water therapy, they also follow other healthy habits -

1. Sitting down while eating or drinking.

2. Going for a long walk every day.

3. Taking the time to chew the food properly.

4. Doing a salt water gargle every night before going to bed.

How to go about the water therapy

The morning water therapy is about having 4 glasses of water on an empty stomach. When you are starting out with this water therapy, it is advised to have just one glass of water (250 ml). You must have this glass of water even before you brush your teeth.

 

 

You can add a few drops of lemon juice to the water. After you drink the water you cannot drink or eat anything for the next 45 minutes. This allows the water to work its magic. Over the next few days, you can add on to the number of glasses of water.

You should aim to have 4 glasses of water every morning but don’t have more than this amount. Overdoing this water therapy can end up in fatal water poisoning which results from drinking too much water at a time. Stick to having about 1 litre of water first thing in the morning.

You would start to feel the difference in about a week after you add this to your morning routine - all you need is to wake up an hour earlier.
