Are You A New Mom? Here Are Some Great Tips To Stay Healthy!

Being a mom is great and everything, but sometimes it’s really, reaaaally exhausting. If you have ever had the misfortune of being sick when your baby is ALSO sick, then god bless you. Imagine having to take care of your baby, yourself and also do the laundry that comes with illnesses? Horrible. Add office work to this, and you have it a million times worse.

These are the times when you realize that staying in shape and being healthy is a super important thing to do for yourself, mainly because if your baby/babies ever need you, you need to be in the best possible shape to take care of them.

Being a new mom is difficult enough, so we thought we’d help you out with some tips on how to stay healthy when you’ve just had a baby. All these might look simple and easy, but the worst thing you can do is underestimate them. They really work! Check them out -

1. Drink LOTS and LOTS of water.

We have probably mentioned this a hundred times on our website already, but it really is the most important thing that you can do for your health. Water helps everything from your skin to your kidneys to your face to even when you have headaches. Your body needs water, and you’re just depriving your body of it’s major component if you don’t drink enough water.

2. Exercise, even if it only for a little while.

This really makes a difference, not just physically but also to your psyche. Brisk walking for 20 minutes or even a few simple exercises for a few minutes a day can make a huge difference to your health! How are you going to lift and carry around your baby if your arms are not ready for it?

3. Check your gut!

Did you know that almost 80% of your immune system is literally in your gut? You might not realize it, but having your gut in a bad shape might just get your terribly sick and end up needing antibiotics. Check the condition of your gut periodically and supplement it with any probiotics that are recommended by your doctor. You have a wide variety to choose from, and consult your doctor about which one would suit you best.

What probiotic supplements do is replenish the “good” bacteria in your body for the best digestive and immune health. This makes sure that things like gas, daily bloating and irregularity are relieved.

4. Be neat and maintain cleanliness

All you clean freaks out there, look away. If you’re the kind of person that doesn’t mind a little bit of dirt here and there, then this is for you. You need to start keeping things around you clean - things around the house, when you go shopping, when you take your baby out shopping, when you go on a drive. Your newborn is susceptible to a lot of diseases with even the slightest germs, so make sure you don’t leave them exposed to any.

5. Check the weather before you head out!

Imagine it’s pouring outside, but you’ve been cooped up inside that restaurant for a couple of hours now, and didn’t expect it to start raining so heavily. Taking care of a newborn is task enough, and when it’s raining, this will be 10 times tougher. Either you or your newborn will fall sick, and that is a situation you want to avoid at all costs!

6. Keep the junk away (at least for a while)

Keep the junk to a minimum. You don’t have to give up on them altogether, but even halving their intake will do you a world of good. You’ll also realize along the way that the more junk you eat, the more lethargic you’ll feel. It’s really logical - food is fuel, and with the right kind and amount of fuel, you can keep your engine running for as long as you want!

7. You. Don’t forget you.

Running behind your little one can be a full-time job, and it’s really easy to forget to take care of someone special - yourself. Taking care of your own health - your body, mind and soul - is equally important. Once in awhile, take time off for yourself and spend your energy and pamper yourself! You deserve it. When you feel good, you do good. Am I right?
