Amazing and Easy Breakfast Recipes For School Going Kids

When it comes to the morning meals, kids aren’t always happy about it. They will do anything they can to avoid eating their breakfast simply because the idea of having ‘healthy food’ in the morning sounds too boring for them. No matter how much they hate it though, they still need the nutrition. How do you get the kids to eat their breakfast every day?

1. Egg-tomato sandwich and fruit juice

This breakfast is great for kids because it looks colourful and tasty. The best part is that it is easy to make as well.

How to make:

a) Toast two slices of whole wheat bread with some butter.

b) Beat up an egg and add salt, pepper and some finely diced tomatoes and green chillies into it.

c) Pour the egg into a hot pan and make an omelette with olive oil or butter.

d) Prepare fresh fruit juice with some sweet, seasonal fruits you have at home.

e) Serve it up nicely with colourful plates and glasses and you are all set.

2. Pancakes with fruits and a glass of milk

Pancakes have been a hit with kids since forever. They are easy to prepare and serve as a good energy source too.

How to make:

a) To make the pancake batter, mix 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1 cup milk, 1 egg, 1 tsp baking powder, 1 tsp salt, 1 tbsp sugar, and 3 tbsp melted butter in a bowl.

b) Pour the batter into a heated pan greased with butter.

c) Optional - You can use a mould to create different shapes of the pancakes - stars, hearts, etc.

d) The pancake will turn golden brown on both sides once it’s cooked all the way through.

e) You can coat the pancake with maple syrup or chocolate syrup - whatever you see fit.

f) You can then top the pancakes with finely diced fruit and some chopped dry fruit/nuts.

g) Serve them along with a glass of milk and your child’s breakfast is complete!

3. Breakfast cereal with nuts and fruits

A breakfast cereal can be made even more delightful by adding cut fruit, dry fruit and some nuts. Nestlé CEREGROW is great because it tastes great as is and will provide your child with all the nutrients they need to start their day.

How to make:

4. Vegetable sandwich and milkshake

Making a sandwich is super easy and can be done even if you feel groggy in the morning. If you have a sandwich maker at home, this recipe would be even easier.

How to make:

a) Toast two slices of brown/whole wheat bread (with butter) if you are making this without a sandwich maker.

b) Put the chopped veggies on the toast. Add cheese if you like.

c) With a sandwich maker, apply butter on both sides of the bread slices. Put the chopped veggies on the bread (add cheese if you like) and then allow it to get toasted.

d) Prepare a milkshake with any seasonal fruit to go with the sandwich. For this, you should add a glass of milk, along with 1-2 whole fruits and 2 tbsp of honey in the blender. Garnish it with some finely ground nuts and serve.

5. Breakfast roll with fruits

Kids love eating a nice cheese paratha. They also love rolls. So why not combine the two?

How to make:

a) On a hot pan, add 1 tbsp of olive oil. Add 1 tbsp garlic ginger paste, 1 tsp salt, chopped chillies, pepper to this. Chop up vegetables (cabbage, capsicum, carrot, onion) and add them to the spices. Sauté and keep aside.

b) For the cheese paratha, take just a little bit of wheat dough, roll it out and grate some cheese over it.

c) Layer another rolled out a piece of dough over this and then make the parathas on a pan.

d) Make sure to grease the parathas with butter/ghee (whatever your child likes).

e) At the centre of the hot, freshly prepared paratha, place the sautéed vegetables.

f) Roll it up tightly. Secure it with a toothpick if you’d like. Place this on a plate with ketchup.

g) You can serve this along with some cut fruit as a wholesome breakfast.
