Colic is the term to describe constant crying and what appears to be abdominal pain in early infancy. Colic is a common condition and is estimated to affect at least 20% of babies during their first few months.



Here are a few things you could try:


1. Warm Bath


It can help your baby get relief soon in the colicky times and make them quickly fall asleep. Fill a bathtub full with warm water. Drop some amount of lavender oil into the water and stir well then place your baby in the bathtub and gently massage the tummy so that the baby can get relief from trapped gas.


2.Oil Massage


Take some drops of warmed olive oil.Use your hand to apply this oil on your baby tummy and gently massage in circular manner,Then continue the process in other regions such as cage, pelvis ,hands and feet.


3.Knee Pushing Exercise


It is necessary for ensuring smooth digestion and also very helpful in relieving colic. Let your baby lie down,hold the knees and make them bend towards tummy and repeat the process 4 to 6 times a day.


4.Burp Your Baby


Burping will help your baby get rid of gas that can cause colic pain,after you feed the baby make the baby sit upright and gently rub his\her back and tummy. Keep rubbing until there is a small burping sound from your baby.Follow the method whenever your baby finishes the meal to prevent colic.


5.Peppermint


It helps reducing the level of pain caused by colic.Mix 2 drops of peppermint oil with 1 teaspoon of baby baby massage oil. Massage your baby's abdominal area with this mixture in a circular manner .Do this 2 times a day to help your baby get relief.


6.Cumin Seeds


Cumin seeds not only act as an aid in digestions but also help reduce the impact of colic. Soak 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds in a glass of hot water.Keep it overnight for the best effect.Take a few teaspoons of this stained tea to feed your baby. Feed your baby several times a day with this tea to get the better result.


7.Coke or Pepsi


A little amount of coke or Pepsi can help your baby feel better when he/she suffering from colic pain. These kinds of soft drinks may have effects in helping your baby get relief from gas in tummy. Take 1-2 teaspoons of Coke or Pepsi to feed your baby.After that burp and sit your baby up to relive from the gas.


8.Warm Compress


It will act very effectively in helping the baby get rid of the pain. Pour warm water into a basin.Then soak a soft towel into the water and remove the excess water. Gently apply the towel onto the baby's tummy or rub in circular manner for about 3-5 minutes. Keep the towel on baby’s tummy until the temperature is reduced. Follow this remedy twice a day to gain better result.


These home remedy are worth to try as they may help your baby to calm down whenever he/she has colic. However, if they didn't work, you should consult a pediatrician to help your baby get relief soon.
