When a woman becomes pregnant, the world starts to revolve around her and the poor husband will be taken out of the frame. But have you wondered what men actually think about pregnancy or pregnant women? Men are a bunch of confused, mystified and bamboozled human beings. A lot of men have their own ways of approaching a pregnant woman while others could be clueless. But what stands strong is all men have hysterical beliefs about pregnant women. Here are a few of those funny beliefs:
1. She will become as heavy as a bag of bricks
A lot of men are afraid of the weight the mom-to-be is gaining. They believe that the pounds she gains during pregnancy makes her unattractive and turns them off totally.
2. Baby poking in naughty time
Almost all the men out there believe that they will poke the baby and hurt it during sex. But men listen up, the baby is protected in its nook. It is safely guarded by something called mucus plug and it secures the womb from anything that could enter and hang out with the baby.
3. Pregnancy weight is Permanent
A lot of men out there believe and are terrified that their partner will never lose the weight they put on during pregnancy. They want their women to come back to normal body structure as soon as she delivers the baby. Well, she will get back that old body (with a little extra curve maybe) but not overnight. It takes time and it happens at its own pace.
4. House arrest
Men freak out with no trouble. You ask him to paint the nursery or go for a bulk shopping for the baby’s arrival or make some extra plans for him, he hits the ceiling. He will be frightened that he will never be allowed to leave the house and hang out with his friends during his partner’s pregnancy period.
5. The only word of her mouth: “Baby”
Men are afraid that the only thing the partner has too much in her brain is “Baby”. They don’t want to hear every possible detail of the baby and the baby’s things. But in reality, for a woman, pregnancy is overwhelming. Besides loads of the things running in the wits, the baby takes priority. But that is not the only thing in her mind.
In third trimester and a few months after childbirth, some women have baby on brain all the time. But this could be blamed on hormonal changes, stress, sleep deprivation or physical change.
6. Mommie-to-be – A ticking time bomb
Pregnant women are always on roller coaster ride. The hormones are the culprits which make pregnant women nuts. The change in the hormonal level affects the brain chemistry which could make her happy, anxious and sad – all at once. Sometimes, displaying the heightened emotions and sometimes, making her feel like a couch potato – these are the free packages of pregnancy. So, for the men who believe pregnant women are ticking time bombs. “Oh yes, we are! But in time, this too shall pass.”
7. Filmy style Pregnancy
The pregnant women in the movies look super cool with a flaunting bump and super fit clothes. The movies never show the besieged reality of pregnancy where the women become breathless while climbing stairs, the struggle of sitting down and standing up in the last trimester due to the extra pound they carry around.
Men are habituated to such filmy style pregnancies. They believe that is how smooth sailing the pregnancy could be. But, “checkmate! Welcome to the reality!”
8. Finale day – Labour Room
In all the movies, the way labour pain is picturized is the baby pops out in a minute or two. But, the truth is, it is awfully far away from the veracity. It could take hours or even days together of pain, screaming and pushing. Life might seem horrible. But that is how a beautiful life comes to earth. So, for all the men who believe pregnancy is a walk in the park, “News Flash! It is not!”
