7 Types of Skin Psoriasis That Can Occur

 

Psoriasis is a continuing skin condition with no permanent cure. The symptoms of keep alternating stages between getting better or worse - especially if there is rapid change of season. Doctors say that is 12 % more likely that people living in India might be suffering from psoriasis everyday.

The factors that affect your vulnerability to get psoriasis tend to release inflammatory chemicals in your blood system. Since your immune system is weak, there is an uncontrollable collection of dead skin without any of it getting the chance to fall off. Thus, your skin remains looking scaly on the surface.

While there are a lot of good and successful treatments present - it becomes very important first know what kind of psoriasis you have. 1. Plaque Psoriasis is the most common type of psoriasis. It causes inflamed and red skin covered with white silvery scales. This can appear anywhere on the body. Yet, it is most commonly seen on elbows, scalp, lower back and knees which can burn or itch.

2. Inverse Psoriasis is characterised by bright red, shiny and smooth patches on the skin which are not scaly. This is typically found in skin folds of your body like your underarm. Yeast buildup is common and can get worse with sweating or rubbing.

3. Guttate Psoriasis is more common in young adults and children. It causes small red spots on the skin. This is usually seen on upper arms, scalp, thighs and the trunk. Guttate is often triggered by skin injury, stress, tonsillitis or streptococcal sore throat.

4. Pustular Psoriasis causes pus-filled bumps that are surrounded by patches of red skin. It is uncommon and mostly seen in adults. This can cover most of the body, is a serious harm that requires immediate medical attention. The signs to look out for are muscle weakness, nausea, chills, fast heart rate and fever.

5. Erythrodermic Psoriasis  affects more than 90% of the body, causing fiery red skin that may look burned. It is one of the least common forms of psoriasis which makes it the most serious as well. You might notice signs like a change in the body temperature, severe burning, peeling of the skin and a faster heart rate.

6. Psoriatic Arthritis occurs when you may or may not have psoriasis on the skin, but your joints are affected. This occurs especially in the small joints of your hands. The signs include painful, stiff, discoloured and warm joints. You might also experience swelling of toes and fingers.

7. Nail Psoriasis has signs that are more chronic than the usual changes in the nails. If you have tender, painful, colour-changing, fungal infected or pitted nails - you may be suffering from nail psoriasis.
