7 Fruits To Eat While Breastfeeding

You must be busy breastfeeding your baby as you’re catering to his needs first. Your entire focus drifts to nourishing your baby and doing the best for him.You must have found yourself browsing through numerous health charts wondering what should you be consuming in order to feed your baby right. 

You are ignoring the most common and the best foods available right in front of you- Fruits! They are an integral part of your diet as they contain the essential antioxidants, dietary fibres and minerals for your baby. Moreover, it provides a mom with energy to breastfeed her baby effortlessly. 

1. Strawberry

It is the best source of vitamin C. All new moms are advised to eat a lot of strawberries (120 mg) a day. They keep the body hydrated as it has it has good water content so that you can feed your baby whenever you wish to.

2. Chikoo

You tend to get exhausted as your baby demands a lot of attention. Breastfeeding itself is kind of tiring so you’ll need a lot of energy to avoid vomiting, nausea or even dizziness. Chikoo will fill you up with a lot of energy.  


They’re citrus in nature hence they are rich in antioxidants. They have the most number of antioxidants compared to other fruits. Even though a number of antioxidants passed through the breast milk is unknown, it is still possible for them to get transferred to the baby.

4. Bananas

They are rich in potassium and they’re highly recommended to pregnant women. It doesn’t stop there as breastfeeding mothers too need a large proportion of potassium to maintain the electrolyte and fluid balance.

5.Green Papaya

It is a lactation-enhancer as it contains galactagogue. The juices present inside to enhance the production of milk and at the same time, it will also nourish you with essential vitamins- A, B, C and E.

6. Cantaloupe

Your body needs to be completely nourished so that you can provide your baby with the essential nourishment. You should be devouring a lot of this fruit to stay healthy and fit even as you’re breastfeeding.


They’re rich in omega-3, omega-6 and omega-9 fatty acids. These essential amino acids will help you produce rich breast milk and it is very healthy for your baby.
