Pregnancy is a tumultuous time of checklists and how-to’s. Mothers feel the need to be over-cautious of everything - including the dangerous succumbing to the Gods of cravings. As always, any unwashed, unpasteurized, canned, frozen and pre-made fruits are a completely NO. Factors like bacteria, chemicals and improper quality maintenance are few of the many infectious downers. But do not worry mommies! Below are 7 fruits that should not eat while being pregnant you’ll be in a well-guided journey to maintain the best fruit diet for pregnant ladies.
Papaya (especially green) is the bright fruit that, when consumed ripe, is a suggested go-to-health remedy for heartburn and constipation due to its nutritious elements of Vitamin C. But studies infer that in the first trimester unripe/raw papaya is extremely dangerous. And is even worse in intensity as the pregnancy progresses. It was even used as an infamous contraception.
Large quantities leads to miscarriage or early induced labour, swelling or bleeding of placenta, uterine contractions and passed fetal abnormalities due to increased Oxycontin secretion.. As it is also rich in latex, allergies to related safe foods are also plausible to be developed in the mother. Additionally, the seeds are elemental of carpine poison which can weaken the mother’s pulse and nervous system. For safety purposes, it is best to avoid this fruit altogether till the baby is born.
Although mangoes are the luscious summer delicacy and great for nutrition maintenance - large amounts of the especial unripe/raw variety are extremely problematic during pregnancy.
Mangos are dangerous for the last trimester since a strong sugar content can induce diabetes. This further leads to a weak pregnancy management and abnormal growth of the fetus. It is the said increase in growth that results to issues during normal labour. Mangos also have the tendency to instill the latex allergy that papayas create. If the craving devil persists, try to sick to only one well-washed piece!
Peaches and Plums
Peaches and plums (Vitamin A) are the subtle beauties that are preferred for larger satisfactory experiences. Yet, during pregnancy these fruits are harmful for both mother and fetus. These lead to an increase in temperature, bleeding, irritated throat and allergic reactions. So it is best to consume only 2-3 well-peeled pieces per week.
Grapes (black and red)
This simple fruit can be popped in as a light snack but it’s consumption during pregnancy is shrouded with controversies. It is especially dangerous to eat grapes during the first trimester as increased heat is built and there is a heavy amount of chemical content sprayed during cultivation. This leads to mutual health issues, hormonal imbalances and complicated pregnancies due to antioxidants.
All allergic-prone mothers with weak digestion should especially avoid the diabetic shocks that occur due to the fruit’s high pitches in carbohydrate-based sugar content. However, eating a few small grapes will ensure that you are getting the essential nutrients after being thoroughly washed and peeled.
Although it is a great source of nutrition - pineapples should be avoided during the first trimester. The specific consequences include acidic reflux, heartburn, sensitive stomach, unripe poisoning or allergic reactions.
An enzyme called bromelain causes the dangerous softening of the cervix which results in early labour, miscarriage or uterine contractions. Pineapple has a rich sugar concentration, which can harm women with gestational diabetes. So eat only a few slices and under the guided discretion of your doctor.
Bananas are the easiest to eat and is everyone’s favourite containing potassium, which is essential for your overall health. However, it is rich in carbohydrates which raises blood sugar levels. The elemental chitinase enzyme leads to the dangerous latex syndrome/allergy. Women who suffer from gestational diabetes should avoid eating a banana in large quantities. And, thus, it is best to avoid banana until after your baby is born.
Watermelons are high in water content and create the ultimate source of refreshment. But due to its kidney cleansing usage - it is quite harmful. This is mostly because the dual connections shared in a pregnancy will lead to a vulnerable case of toxin poisoning.
Additionally, due to high sugar contents they are a complete no during the first trimester. While only one slice or two per week is alright - its is best avoided until after full-term.
