7 Drinks You Should Not Miss Out On During Pregnancy

As you must’ve already heard - pregnancy diet is super important not just for you but also for your baby. The kind of foods you consume have a huge influence on the baby’s health so it’s important that you set your priorities straight and save the junk for when you have the cravings.

And of course, it’s not solid foods you’ll have as you go about your day (Don’t want your throat going dry now, do we?). Here are a few drinks that are not only tasty but are extremely beneficial during your pregnancy:

1. Coconut water

During pregnancy, it’s common to feel tired and fatigue more often than not. You might also notice that you sweat more even if you’re not exactly doing anything strenuous. This causes a loss of electrolytes and salts from your body that are easily restored by coconut water. It makes you feel refreshed and ready to take on the world.

2. Jaljeera

This tangy drink that’ll make you smack your tongue does wonders to cure indigestions and bloating issues. It even curbs your morning sickness and will put you in a “good vibes” sort of mood instantly. So, if you’re looking to treat your taste buds, this is the drink for you.

3. Buttermilk

There’s nothing better than a glass of buttermilk or lassi on a hot day. It is loaded with enzymes, vitamin B12, Calcium and protein which only have positive effects on your body. It is recommended that you drink at least one glass of buttermilk every day after a meal to keep yourself hydrated and healthy.

4. Lemon water

Also famously known as nimbu pani has many benefits that we’ve already discussed. But to give a short summary, It increases the iron levels of your body, helps with morning sickness and also keeps you thirst-free for a long time. If plain out lemonade sounds boring to you, then jazz it up by adding a little bit of grated ginger and mint leaves.

5. Fruits and veggie juices

This one is pretty obvious. You get all the nutrients and minerals you need from fruits and vegetables. Apart from cooking with them, another way of including them in your daily diet is to mix ‘em up and grind them up into a thick smoothie. But be careful to mix ones that work well together or you’ll end up with something funky tasting.

6. Herbal tea

Tulsi tea, mint tea, chamomile tea and so on are also very good for when you are pregnant. They help with several things like morning sickness, headaches, nausea, digestion, flatulence, and heartburn. You can try as many types of green tea as you like by throwing in a different flavoured one into your grocery cart and pick out your favorite.

7. Aam panna

Aam panna is a drink that is made from green mangoes and can look any shade between yellow and green. It curbs dehydration and if you’re having a summer pregnancy, then mangoes are easily available so you don’t have to go searching far and beyond for a yum-looking mango to make a drink out of.
