6 Ways Your Body Changes After Pregnancy

Postpartum you are going to be very different from you before being pregnant. And it’s not just the addition of a little someone in the family. But also the drastic changes that your own body as well. These differences are more than enough to change the entire personality of the person. We know you would probably have expected all the changes you will be seeing but to give you a clearer picture, we have made a list of certain changes your body will be going through.

1. Breast changes

Your breasts will probably become flushed, swollen, sore, and engorged with milk for a day or two after the birth. Once this swelling goes down, in about three to four days, your breasts will probably begin to sag as a result of the stretched skin. This is a highly likely change and so you will have to take precautions and maybe use certain creams in order to make sure that the effects are minimal.

2. Back pain

Because it will take some time for the stretched abdomen muscles to become strong again, your body is putting extra weight on the muscles of your back. This can lead to a backache until the abdominal muscles tighten up again. It’s is recommended that you have a proper posture during this time so that the muscles can relax into the proper position and you don’t have a lot of pain.

3. Hair loss

You must have noticed that you are losing more hair than usual during pregnancy. But even after pregnancy, you might end up losing a lot of hair. This happens because your body is compensating for all the hormonal changes it was going through and it will take some time for your body to normalise and be able to give your hair the growth they deserve.

4. Varicose veins and swelling

Swelling of the legs is a common thing during pregnancy. Since you are carrying another person inside you, it is obvious that your legs will get strained more and you will have excess swelling. But sometimes this swelling may remain postpartum as well. But don’t worry it will go off soon enough and walking around is something that will help you relieve the varicose veins as well.

5. Skin discolouration

The tan-coloured area around your eyes will start to fade. Women who suffered from severe acne during pregnancy should see their skin start to clear up. However, other women will begin to experience a red rash that around their mouth and chin or suffer from the extremely dry skin. Both of these conditions should be gone within weeks.

6. Urination difficulties

Without the baby pressing on your bladder anymore, you will not be urinating as frequently. But, pressure on the urethra during delivery can make urination difficult postpartum. New moms may also suffer from incontinence or a urinary tract infection, which can cause a burning sensation during urination. Don’t worry just give it some time to get back to the usual self. But if it is still not fine then consult a doctor immediately.
