6 Ways Busy Moms Can Carve In 'Solo' Time To Their Schedule
Motherhood is demanding to the extent that you forget to make time for yourself. Your entire time is dedicated to your baby’s needs and demands. From morning to night, you run behind the newest love of your life to make sure that all their wants and needs are fulfilled.
It is a good thing to be dedicated to your little one. However, it also helps to stop for a moment and breathe. Remember that you are a very important person. You need to have some alone time.
Here, we give you a few ways in which you can get your solo time.
1. Early to bed and early to rise (for your child)
Put your baby to sleep as early as possible. This way, not only will you get some time to maybe read your favourite book and relax, but your baby too will get good sleep. It is known that babies/toddlers grow in their sleep, as it induces the release of growth hormones. Once your little one is asleep, you can then take out some time to spend with your spouse and reflect on the happenings of the day.
2. Prioritize you solo time
Most mothers start by thinking about removing some time for themselves from their round the clock schedule. Thinking and doing are two different things. More often than not, out of fatigue, mothers tend not to follow through. They think that it would be wiser to finish off other chores than to take out some time for their own selves. This might get some of your tasks done, but it cannot guarantee the happiness you will get from spending a little time by yourself.
3. Schedule some ‘Me’ time
Mothers keep procrastinating, thinking that they will have some time once the baby is asleep in the afternoon. Come afternoon, they think they will just finish their chores and have some time to spend in the evening. Come evening, they are too tired of doing anything and hence, end up going to bed or attending to their baby. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to schedule some ’Me’ time, in order to make it happen. Also, make sure that you follow through your scheduled time and don’t give up on it.
4. Little is more
‘Me’ time does not necessarily have to be hours on end or a day trip to fantasy land. Even a couple of minutes from your busy baby schedule is enough. Learn to embrace every moment of your free time rather than worrying about how short a duration it lasts for.
5. Be creative
Mothers think that there isn’t anything special to be done during ‘Me’ time and hence, see no point scheduling or prioritising it. In order to keep your ‘Me’ time fun, get creative and think of numerous ways in which you could make it fun. You can go for a drive, read your favourite book or watch an episode from your favourite TV series or any such thing that will keep you interested. It is very important to look forward to some ‘Me’ time.
6. Ask for help
In spite of all your efforts, if you feel that squeezing out some time from your daily schedule is absolutely impossible, then ask for help. You could hire a babysitter for a while, ask your spouse to switch roles or ask your family members to lend you a helping hand. Regardless of everything, you have to remember that you are the most important person.
