Body hair is often seen as a bad thing in women. And it’s not someone else but women themselves who always try to keep their body smooth and clean without even a speck of hair. Though there is still debate on the scientific significance of this activity, one thing is proven that removing hair from the body actually keeps you cooler and helps make you feel lighter. But, most women use chemical compounds to remove body hair which can often affect their skin in a negative way. Thus, in order to help you out, we have come up with some ways to remove hair using natural materials.
1. Sugar, Lemon and Honey Paste
Sugar, lemon, and honey together work as a great alternative to the wax that parlours use. While sugar acts as a fantastic exfoliant, honey makes a paste when added to it. The lemon juice is said to work as a natural bleaching agent, lightening the colour of your body hair. All you need is 1 tbsp sugar, 1 tsp honey, 1 tsp lemon juice, a bowl of cornstarch and a bowl of water.
2. Potato and Lentil Paste
Potatoes and lentils together are said to function as bleaching and hair removal agents. You need 1 bowl of peeled, crushed potatoes, 1 bowl of yellow lentils, 1 tbsp honey and 4 tbsp lemon juice. After soaking the lentils overnight, ground them to get a paste and extract potato juice from the peeled, crushed potatoes either using a sieve or a cloth. Now, add honey, lemon juice, and potato juice to the lentil paste and mix thoroughly. Apply this paste to the body parts you want to remove hair from and leave it on till for about 15–20 minutes. Rub the dry paste off with your fingers to remove the hair from your skin.
3. Turmeric and Rose Water Paste
While turmeric is quite popular for its antibacterial and antiseptic properties, it can also work quite well to prevent unwanted hair growth and adding rose water to it may help eliminate dirt from the clogged pores thanks to its cleansing properties. Take the turmeric powder in a bowl. Add rose water to it slowly till you get a paste smooth enough to apply. Gradually massage the paste on the body parts that you want to remove hair from. Leave the paste on for about 15–20 minutes and then, wash it off with warm water.
4. Cornstarch and Egg Paste
Egg white can work quite well as a hair removal ingredient because of its sticky nature. Adding cornstarch to it is said to help remove even the most stubborn hair. Although using an egg and cornstarch mix to remove body hair might hurt a bit more than normal. Break the egg carefully, and remove the white from it. Add the cornflour and sugar to the egg white in a bowl and stir thoroughly to make a paste. Now, apply this paste to the body parts you want to remove hair from and leave it on for about 20–25 minutes. Peel off the paste in one quick motion to remove the hair.
5. Turmeric and Raw Papaya Paste
Raw papaya contains an enzyme called papain, which restricts hair growth by breaking off hair follicles, slowing down hair growth and is also a great exfoliant. Add turmeric to the equation, and all the effects are doubled. To use this method, peel the papaya and grind it into a paste. Take about 1–2 tsp of the paste in a bowl and add turmeric powder to the papaya paste in the bowl and mix thoroughly. Now massage the body parts you want to remove hair from with this paste. Leave it on for about 15–20 minutes and wash it off with warm water.
