5 Ways to Make Sure Your Baby Gets Proper Sleep

Sleep is one of the most crucial parts of a person’s day. Our brain needs some downtime to relax and prepare for the next day. And that is where sleep comes in. Not only does it provide relaxation to our brain but our entire body and other organs as well. For a baby too, it works in the same way. But, babies don’t always understand the concept of nighttime and thus they sometimes sleep for the entire day and end up crying the entire night. But, there are some ways that you can use in order to help them get proper rest. 

1. Co-sleeping

Studies show that children who co-sleep with their parents grow up with higher self-esteem and less anxiety. Co-sleeping helps the child feel at ease and be less scared as the mother provides a secure and warm sleeping space. Co-sleeping also helps the mother keep a close eye on her child thereby helping the little one if s/he needs anything.

2. A warm water bath before sleep

Research has found that giving the baby a light warm water bath helps them relax. This relaxation, in turn, will help them get proper sleep at the right time. By giving your little one the proper sleep you will also be able to give yourself that much-needed sleep time that you have been wanting for so long.

3. Put them in comfy clothes

Just like you need comfortable clothes at night before sleeping, your little one needs a change of clothes too. Gradually, when you will start putting them in different clothes at a set time, they will identify it to the sleep time and will start making their own schedule which will be in sync with yours. Also, having comfortable clothes to sleep in will give them a proper sleep as well.

4. Keep the lights out

Babies tend to associate lights switched on with daytime. And thus if you keep the lights switched on in their room or anytime you want them to sleep then it will be more difficult. Thus, it is recommended that you keep the lights switched off in their room if you want them to have proper sleep without any disturbance. 

5. Swaddling the baby

By swaddling up the baby in their blanket you create this illusion that you are holding them in your arms. Also, when the baby feels covered and tightly tucked in from all sides, it gives them a feeling that they are in the protection of their mother’s womb and thus can be comfortable. It helps them get a better sleep throughout the night without them even realising it.
