5 Vitamin-Rich Food That You Can Give Your 6-Month-Old Baby

Motherhood is beautiful and a mother’s love is incomparable. A mother always looks out for her child right from the moment she knows that she has conceived and leaves no stone unturned to ensure that her baby gets all that he/she needs. For the first six months your baby’s diet consists of breast milk but as they hit the 6-month milestone you have to incorporate solid food into their diet. It’s not an easy feat to accustom a baby to solid food and more often than not they’ll end up throwing a tantrum. You also need to make sure that your baby is getting the required intake of vitamins. To make this whole process easier for you, we have compiled a list of the vitamin-rich food that you can give your baby.

1. Fruits

Fruits are a good vitamin source and are at par with non-vegetarian food when it comes to nutrition. You can give your little one bananas, pears or mangoes. Choose fruits that do not have seeds so that it’ll be easier to feed them to your little one. Mashed bananas, mashed melons, avocado, peach, pear are the recommended first foods.Incorporating fruits into your baby’s diet will be highly beneficial since they provide the necessary vitamins required.

2. Fortified milk or cereal

Your little one has been used to milk the first six months and it’s only natural that they have an affinity for the same. Since your breast milk alone isn’t sufficient anymore, you can switch to fortified milk. Fortified milk is one which has been fortified with vitamin D to help calcium absorption. You can also introduce cereals in your baby’s diet.

3. Green vegetables

It’s never too early to introduce your child to green vegetables and to make it a habit. Vegetables like spinach, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower are rich vitamin sources and are highly nutritious. Broccoli is very high in vitamin C and is a great source of soluble fiber. You can even make it into a juice and feed your baby.

4. Eggs

Eggs make a great first food. You can start by first introducing them to the egg yolk and then gradually proceed to the whole egg. Make sure that there is no known history of allergies. It is the white of the egg that is allergic. Eggs are one of the easiest things to prepare and are a wise choice for a toddler switching from breast milk to solid food.

5. Meat

You can start off by giving your toddler small portions of well-cooked meat. It can be chicken, pork, fish or red meat of any kind. Children are observed to like the taste and you will have to deal with lesser tantrums. It is a rich source of protein and meets the nutritional needs of your baby. If you are feeding your child fish, make sure that you get rid of the bones. All in all, it is a good first good for your child.
