1. Overdoing Caffeine.

2. Stilettos.As your belly grows during pregnancy, your centre of gravity is bound to change. In such a condition, it is not a good idea to wear stilettos. Stick to flats of maximum 3-inch heels such as – kitten heels, platforms and wedges. Also, buy footwear that is one size larger than your normal size because your ankles and toes are going to swell up.
Give up both active as well as passive smoking. Your smoking has direct repercussions on your health and can cause birth defects in your baby. Even when you are in the vicinity of someone else who is smoking, you are prone to roughly 400 chemicals which are linked to cancer. Smoking, whether active or passive, should be completely given up way before you think of getting pregnant.
If you are feeling cold, turn up the heat instead of grabbing a quick drink. Avoid beer, wine and all other liquor during pregnancy. Alcohol travels quickly through your bloodstream and to the placenta as well as the umbilical cord. This can harm your baby’s developing brain and other organs.
Other potential risks include – fetal alcohol spectrum disorder, premature birth, birth defects, stillbirth or miscarriage.
5. Painting the nursery.
Paint has certain chemicals which, when inhaled, can be toxic for you. There is no way to measure the harmful effects that paint has, so it is better to stay away altogether. Find someone else to do the painting for you and make sure that you stay away from it as much as possible.
There is a list of other things that you should probably avoid during pregnancy. While you should definitely pay attention to them, it is imperative that you also look at the positive side of things and take good care of yourself.
Eat nutritious foods, stay hydrated and ask for help when you need it. Pregnancy is not just about your physical well-being but also your mental well-being. You are the only one who can take the best care of yourself and your little one!
