Women do so many things to take care of their skin, hair, nails and so on but very less when it comes to intimate hygiene which is arguably more important. It’s not just a matter of feeling clean and fresh but bad hygiene habits could lead to some serious health issues. So here’s our breakdown of 5 products you’ll need to pick up at the supermarket for your privates to be grateful.
1. Intimate Wash
Ordinary soaps and shower gels are not designed to be used around the vaginal area because the pH value is different from the rest of our body. So it’s important that you pick up a feminine hygiene wash that is designed specifically for this purpose. This should be used at least once in a day and quickly rinsed off with water after lathering it up.
2. Disposable Razors
Keeping your private areas well groomed is the key to maintaining intimate hygiene. If you feel like waxing is too painful of an option then you can use disposable razors that do the job just as well. A lot of women tend to substitute normal soap for shaving foam or gel, this is not advisable as it could lead to ingrown hair and irritation on that sensitive skin.
If you’re looking for a one-time investment then you can even go for grooming kits that are battery operated to remove hair down there.
3. Intimate wipes
These are super essential if you’re a working mom or tend to travel often. After using a public restroom, it is advised to wipe your privates with these wet wipes which will moisturize the skin and makes you clean and fresh immediately. These are travel-friendly so you can just chuck them in your purse and use when needed.
4. Period stuff
It’s very important to maintain good hygiene during those days of the month since you are bleeding. Invest in some good quality cotton pads. Usually, night-time sanitary pads tend to be on the costly side, you can substitute these with normal sanitary pads in XL size.
Don’t use the same pad for more than 6 hours and if you’re in a situation where you won’t be able to change pads frequently, a tampon is your best option. Other than this, you can also use a menstrual cup and period panties for those low-flow days.
5. Other creams and gels
If you’re suffering from a yeast or a bacterial infection then do not skip on the creams and ointments that are prescribed by your doctor. Apart from this some women also tend to use bleaching, whitening and tightening creams on your vagina. Before using any of them read about their composition and do a test patch on your arm.
