5 Home Remedies To Get Rid Of Dark Circles

1. Cucumber

We all have seen in movies where people are shown relaxing in a spa with cucumber slices on their eyes. It is because cucumber has mild astringent and skin-lightening properties, and are perfect to fix the racoon eyes. Take a fresh cucumber and cut it into thick slices; let the slices chill for 30 minutes. Place the slices over the dark circles for about 10 minutes and then wash the area with water. Keep repeating this process twice a day for at least a week to see the improvement.

2. Almond Oil

It is a completely natural ingredient that benefits the skin around the dark circles and helps them to lighten. A combination of almond oil and Vitamin E oil is perfect to get rid of the dark circles. Easy availability of these ingredients in every household makes their use even easier. Apply some almond oil over the skin around your eyes and massage gently for a while and into the skin. Leave it on for overnight and wash it off with cold water next morning. Keep repeating this process and your dark circles will be gone.

3. Tomato

Tomato is actually a fruit that is used as a vegetable. It naturally possesses the strong bleaching properties that are effective in lightening the skin. Take one tsp. of tomato juice and mix it with one and a half tsp. of lemon juice. Apply this mixture gently on the dark circles and let it be on for 10 minutes, then rinse well with cold water. Repeat this procedure twice a day and you will see the results in two to three weeks.

4. Potato

Potatoes are rich in natural vital bleaching agents. When used raw, they can really help in the reducing and lighten the dark circles. They are also effective in reducing the excessive swelling or puffiness around the eyes. Take a couple of chilled potatoes and grate them to extract the juice. Soak the juice in a cotton ball and place it on the closed eyes, while the juice covers the eyes completely. Let the juice to sit for about 15 minutes and then rinse it with cool water. Following this procedure twice a day for two to three weeks will lead to positive results.

Rose water is great for rejuvenating the skin and reducing the dark circles. It also has a soothing effect on the tired eyes. It works well as a skin toner too due to its mild astringent properties. Take some rose water and soak it in cotton balls for a few minutes until they are completely wet. Place these cotton balls on your closed eyelids for about 15 minutes and then rinse it off properly. This remedy must also be followed twice a day for two to three weeks to experience visible results.
