5 Common Items That Might Actually Be Hindering Your Baby's Growth

There are a lot of things that affect a child’s growth and overall development. It is not easy being a parent. But even then we try hard to give the best to our little ones every day. The major concern of any parent is the physical growth of their little one but there are certain things that can actually hinder your baby’s growth. In order to make you aware of these, we have come up with a list.

1. Bulky shoes

Yes, we often think that footwear is really important for the baby even before they start walking but actually all it does is hinder their growth. A baby’s feet grow rapidly when they are small and restricting it by putting shoes on their feet results in improper growth. Thus, it is best to avoid making them wear shoes before they actually start walking.

2. Baby jumpers

The problem with these is that they provide a false sense of motor development, which in turn hinders true motor development. Also, it promotes poor posture because the weight is supported by the crotch, hips, and underarms, which has the baby leaning forward instead of upright. To jump, the baby has to push off with his/her toes, so it is likely that they will use their toes when trying to walk, which is improper posture.

3. Strollers

Anything too confining for long periods of time isn’t optimal for child development because children are not meant to be confined. Once children can walk they can walk alongside you, and before then they can be carried in arms or in a carrier. Yes, you need the stroller because the child is heavy and you can’t carry him/her all the time. But then, using a stroller always and every time is also not a good thing.

4. Baby walkers

Walkers tend to showcase our fundamental lack of trust in our children’s natural abilities to accomplish milestones. Not only in their ability to learn to walk on their own, but also to entertain themselves. Walkers allow mobility beyond what a child is actually capable of, and therefore they cannot navigate themselves as well and are prone to accidents. Besides, it is important that the child has a sense of achievement and this includes them walking on their own without the help of a walker.

5. Carriers without hip support

If you have to be on someone’s back the entire time while they carry you around would you prefer just hanging in the air or would you prefer some support around your hips? Well, the same thing is true for the youngling too. Even they need a comfortable sitting posture in order to be relaxed and not cranky. Besides, a non-hip support carrier can actually lead to rashes and irritation for the baby.
