When you're on your way to give birth to your new bundle of joy, the last thing you want to think about is ”What’s going in my bag?”. Underpacking and overpacking are both avoidable so you have a smooth experience before and after you give birth. You never really know how long you'll need to stay in the hospital, so it's a good idea to be prepared for the big date. So grab a book and pen and let's create a checklist.

Personal Belongings

The first and most important things to put in your bag are your clothes. Your most comfortable pair of pants and your most loose tee(or whatever clothes you feel most comfortable in), comfortable pillows, a blanket from home and your toiletries, mainly your toothbrush, toothpaste, face wipes, a couple hand towels, lip balms, massage creams, and oils. It is also a good idea to carry things that give you a sense of comfort like your favorite perfume.

Comfort Food

You never know how long your baby is going to take to join you in the room. Most people tend to munch on the available hospital food, but it's better if you take your own personal favorites. Snacks like cereal bars, fruits, biscuits are a good option. Also, don't forget to pack something to drink. It's ideal to pack a water bottle and a couple fruit juices.

Electronics

Though this doesn't help simplify or ease out the birthing process, it is one of the most important things to have. Especially your phone, as it is your camera, video recorder, and connection to the rest of the world. So don't forget your phone and its charger. Also, bring along your fun music playlist to keep yourself entertained.

Baby Care

For the baby, you'll need the basics to start out with. So pack some nappies(newborn size), cotton blankets, muslin squares, clothes for the baby, baby wipes, baby sponge, nappy bags and nappy cream and colic drops. These are just the basic, so make sure you have these in hand.

Post-Birth Mom’s Needs

New mommies have a whole new set of needs. It is essential to pack maternity pads and night time sanitary towels, breast pads, nursing bras, comfy socks, slippers, and food. As mentioned before, any favorites that you think you'll want with you at the time should also be packed.

Now that your bag is packed, it's time to go back to dreaming about the moment when your little bundle of joy is going to be in your arms!
