1.Boil 1 tsp of fennel seeds (saunf) in a cup of water. for 2-3 minutes and keep it to cool for 15-20 minutes. Strain. Add 1-2 teaspoon to every feed of milk.It helps in curing colic.
2.Take jaiphal and milk or hot water grind it and feed children who cry out at night without any apparent reasons.
3.As a home remedy, dilute hing (asafoetida) in water and with the help of cotton apply around the baby’s navel. Make sure not inside the navel. It gives instant relief from gas pain.
4.A regular dosage of gripe water also helps.
5.You may use heat betel (paan) leaves and place that on baby's tummy to relieve constipation.
6.The recommended remedy is to crush 10 to 15 grains of dill seed (known as “Suva” in India) in a teaspoon of water. This extract should be mixed with a few drops of mother's milk and administered to the baby.
7.Boil half cup of water and pinch of ajwain.Let it boil for 2-3 min. color of water will change, let it cool down, take the seeds out by draining the water & reserve it for further usage. Babies of 3-5 months age group,give 1 teaspoon at a time, 2-3 times a day.for age group of 6 months & older give 2-3 teaspoons, 2-3 times in day.
8.Fully ripe & soft,always mash it for babies who don't chew.For babies who have started semi-solid Food.
9.Give your baby a warm bath during colicky times. This will have a soothing effect on your baby as well as help to distract and make your baby sleepy.Fill your baby’s bathtub with warm water. Add a few drops of lavender oil. Bathe your baby in this water. While doing so, massage the tummy area gently to relieve painful trapped gas.
10.Dip a very soft towel in warm water and wring out the excess water. Place the warm towel on the baby’s tummy. You can even rub the towel gently in circular motions for a few minutes.
12.Always burp your baby after feeding to prevent colic pain. Burping will help release gas and prevent air pockets forming in the stomach that can cause a lot of discomfort. After feeding, sit your baby upright or hold him against your shoulder.Support your baby’s neck and head properly. Gently rub your baby’s back and tummy until you hear a small burping sound.
13.Something about the fresh air is magical. When I couldn’t soothe Griffin or Paloma, I’d always bundle us up and head outdoors. The sun, the wind, the bird chirping, the movement, all of these elements helped to shift the mood and comfort my babies.
