Everyone always only talks about the rosy side of being pregnant. There is just so much more to it than that. There are so many things you may not know before you get pregnant. It’s one of the most wonderful natural phenomena of experience, but it may also be a difficult journey and you may find out some things about getting pregnant that you don’t like. Just know that in the end, it’s all worth it. That tiny baby just makes it all worth it!


1. You should NOT eat for two!


Everyone tells you now that you’re pregnant, you have a baby growing within you so now you need to eat for the two of you. But this is actually wrong since only one of you is bloating up like a pumpkin. It’s essential to monitor the weight you gain during pregnancy. Excess weight can be harmful to you and your baby. It will be difficult, but you need to control your cravings.

2. Bad acne


Well, surprise- surprise, you may not be glowing like everyone said you would. Glowing during pregnancy is not a myth, but sometimes your hormones can stimulate your sebaceous glands, which can then cause zits. That’s not the worst part, you can’t use the general medicines to treat them cause it will affect your pregnancy! But don’t worry your skin will come back to normal.

3. Your feet will permanently be bigger


Do your shoes feel tight? Are they uncomfortable?


It’s true! Your feet will be at least half an each bigger each time you get pregnant. There is a science to it, but the fact of the matter is you have bigger feet.

4. It’s okay to not love your pregnant body


Everyone will tell you to embrace your new shape. That childbirth is beautiful, but when your old pair of jeans doesn’t fit you it can be really hard to love your body. You can still love your baby without loving everything about being pregnant. You will have both physical and emotional trouble with what is happening to you!

5. Your eyes will itch


Not only will your eyes itch, but they will actually swell. This can be bothersome for contact wearers. Might feel like swords going through them.

6. You will be clumsy


Your balance is way off. This happens due to a number of reasons, you aren’t used to your new body, your mind is everywhere and you’re just not resting well enough.

7. The farting won’t end


Farting is a part of the incredible journey of pregnancy and there’s nothing you can do about it. It’s because of the large amounts of food you eat while you’re pregnant and also your hormones play a small part.

8. You will have the sex drive of a teenage boy


It doesn’t matter how unattractive you feel you will still be hornier than a teenage boy during summer.

9. Not just morning sickness


It’s no more just morning sickness, but all day sickness. That’s right AND it doesn’t just end. Any of the cravings you fulfilled can show up at any time so be careful! The vomiting also gets you feeling dehydrated and exhausted.

10. You will have a keener sense of smell


Your sense of smell may improve like crazy when you’re pregnant. You might be able to tell what people ate for lunch depending on their breath. Not only that it may also be runny and it may even swell up.

11. You may get sweaty like VERY sweaty


Pregnancy glow is caused due to an internal furnace overdrive, which also causes sweating not like normal sweating. But your clothes dripping in sweat and that’s only one of your problems. You also tend to drool when you’re pregnant.


Invest in sweat patches maybe.

12. Your body will never be the same


Your body just won’t be the same after pregnancy. It’ll take hard work and time to get back your old body, but it still just won’t be the same. You’ve gone through so much in just a few months and things just don’t go back to how they were but that’s okay. Things get better with time!
